How to Use the Hemingway
Step 1. Access the Hemingway editor site (hemingwayapp.com) and press the “Write” option in the upper right corner of the page. Now, type directly into the app or paste your text in the field to the center of the page;
Step 2. You can select words or phrases and use the buttons located on the top bar of options to format the text. You can use bold, italics, create titles, insert quotes, simple and numbered lists or add links;
Step 3. After making the desired edits, press the “Edit” option in the upper right corner of the page. The tools will analyze the text and make suggestions for improvements;
The colors marked by Hemingway mean:
Blue: Indicates adverbs. They leave the sentences poor. The ideal is to use two or less in each paragraph;
Green: Indicates the use of passive voice – when the action precedes the subject. The goal is to use two or less;
Rosa: Indicates that the word has a simpler alternative that can be used. Position the mouse cursor over the word to see the suggestion;
Yellow: Phrase difficult to be understood. Hemingway recommends decreasing sentences or reformulating text writing;
Red: Dense phrase and very difficult to be understood. Hemingway recommends shortening sentences or reshaping text writing.
