One of Pinterest’s most striking features is the ability to find content that has been selected by other users. It is possible to spend hours on the platform just “pinning” items to add to your own folders.
However, did you know that you don’t have to share everything you select? By default, the platform always creates public folders with its pins, but there are ways to create secret folders on Pinterest. This option is not displayed as clearly and those who are not very familiar with the platform may find it difficult to find it.
In this tutorial, we show you how to view folders on Pinterest, how to turn a public folder into a secret folder, and how to create a secret folder from scratch.
Important: for these actions, we use the Pinterest version for Android smartphones. You can also access the same tools through the web version of the service.
Viewing folders on Pinterest
Step 1. Open the Pinterest app on your Android smartphone.
Step 2. On the home screen, touch your profile photo in the upper right corner of the screen.
Step 3. In the menu that will open, scroll down to see all of your pins. They will be organized by folders.
How to make a secret folder on Pinterest
Now that you have access to all of your Pinterest folders, let’s learn how to make any of them secret, that is, your exclusive access.
Step 1. Choose the folder you want to make a secret and tap on the three dots icon, right next to the folder name.
Step 3. Scroll down and check the option “Keep this folder secret”.
How to create a secret folder on Pinterest
The two tutorials above apply to cases where you already have Pinterest folders and want to keep them secret. We will now learn how to create a secret folder from scratch.
Step 1. Open the Pinterest app on your Android smartphone.
Step 2. Touch “Home” and choose “Save”.
Step 3. Choose the “folder” option
Step 4. Give the folder a name and activate the option “Keep this folder secret”.
Step 5. Touch “Create”.
