How to Uninstall Program on Mac OS X – Uninstalling applications on Mac OS X is very different from what is normally done in Windows, while most Windows programs include an uninstaller that can be run through the use of the “Add / Remove Programs” control panel in Mac OS X there is no such resource. However, the process on Mac OS X is much simpler, so if you’re new to the Mac and have installed a program but still do not know how to uninstall it, learn how to do this in this pc-mind tutorial.
Step 1. Open the Finder;
Step 2. Inside the Finder, click on “Applications”;
Step 3. Browse to the application you want to uninstall and select it;
Step 4. Right-click and in the menu that appears, select the option “Send to trash”;
Step 5. If necessary, you will be prompted for the administrator password to authorize the deletion, enter it and then click the “OK” button;
Step 6. Or if you prefer, simply drag the application to the trash using the mouse, but if you choose to do so, make sure you have chosen the right program.
Most of the Mac OS X applications you see in “Applications” are usually a special folder, made to look like a single “double-clickable” file. These “folders” contain all, or at least most, of the files needed to run the application, that is, they are self-contained. That’s why to uninstall these applications, you just have to play them in the system’s Recycle Bin.
